Tartar Controlling Tips

Tartar is basically the deposition of minerals on your teeth. Every one has a layer of bacteria called plaque. When food particles remain on your teeth then bacteria start feeding on them. These bacteria secrete acid which combine with enamel and produces a yellowish material. This yellow material is called plaque. It can be removed by regular brushing. But if not then it is converted into hardened material that is tartar. It can not be removed by brush. To get rid off from this tartar you have to consult with dentist who will remove it from some instrument.


Tartar is not good for oral health. It gets accumulated above and below the gums and ultimately causes many diseases of teeth and gums. Moreover it looks like yellow or brown color which damages your teeth appearance.

The best tip to control tartar is care of your oral hygiene. Brush your teeth after every meal in order to avoid plaque. You know plaque gets converted into tartar which can only be removed at dentist office.

There are many tartar control toothpastes available in market. These do not remove already build tartar but instead prevent further accumulation. So brush your teeth with these toothpastes in order to prevent tartar.

Flossing is another way to get rid off from tartar. Slide the floss between all teeth and slightly move up and down. For each new space always use new and clean floss otherwise particles of previous space will get transfer over.

Preventive measures are good to control tartar. But once it gets accumulated then ultimate solution is to go at dental office. Scaling and root planning is special cleaning methods used to remove tartar.  These methods vary from person to person and may take more than one visit. So you should visit the dentist once in a six month in order to ensure your oral health.
