Cavities | Harmful For Your Teeth

Many of you have cavities in your teeth. These are harmful for your oral health. Cavities are the destruction of teeth structure. This is due to the enamel and dentine damage. Main reason of these cavities is bacteria. When food is left on teeth after eating, then these bacteria digest it and produce acid which is harmful for your teeth. This acid combines with debris and plaque and creates holes which are called cavities. Here I am sharing some tips to avoid cavities and maintaining your oral health.

  • Brush your teeth after every meal. Because when you left food on your teeth then this combines with bacteria and produces acid which is cause of tooth decay.
  • Use tooth paste having fluoride. Fluoride makes your teeth strong.
  • Floss your teeth every day. It will clean all food particles from your teeth.
  • Bacteria are not only found on teeth but also on your tooth brush. Make it sure that you use tooth brush with soft bristles and change it after every 2 months. Don’t brush your teeth in a hard way. It will damage your gums and teeth.
  • Avoid carbohydrates food such as peanuts, snacks, candies etc and sticky food because these are caused of tooth decay as these particles stick on your teeth.
  • Try to drink more water because it is necessary for salivation which protects mouth. Further it helps in food breakdown and keeps acidity level balance.
  • Dry mouth is not good for oral hygiene. Because it does not produce sufficient saliva which has important enzyme for mouth protection.
  • Dental sealants are also useful in protecting teeth from decay. It is a protective coating on back teeth. It works as a shield against bacteria and plaque.
  • Chewing sugarless gum is also helpful, because it increases flow of saliva in your mouth which is necessary for your mouth protection.
  • Visit your dentist regularly. It not only ensures your oral healthy but also informs you about cavities. As many cavities are very small and can only be detected with X-ray.
