Teeth Sensitivity | Causes and Preventions


Your teeth are sensitive? Sensitivity occurs when dentine expose due to damaging of underlying layer of teeth. Here I will explain the causes of teeth sensitivity and how can you prevent yours teeth from this sensitivity problem.

Causes
There are many factors which cause sensitivity.

  • If you use tooth bush having hard bristles then it can damage your enamel. So your dentine becomes more exposed, leading to teeth sensitivity.

  • Many people have cracked teeth. Bacteria get accumulated in too these cracks, causing plaque, which ultimately leads to sensitivity.
  • If you have gingivitis i-e gum diseases then your teeth become more sensitive due to less ligament support.
  • Tooth whiting products having chemicals in greater amount can be a cause of teeth sensitivity.
  • Regular consumption of acidic food like pickle, tea, tomato and citrus food can damage the enamel, which increases teeth sensitivity.

Preventions
You can prevent teeth sensitivity by taking following in to consideration.

  • Maintain proper oral hygiene. Brush at least twice a day. Follow proper flossing techniques so that you should keep clean your all parts of mouth.
  • Avoid foods which contain high acidic contents. Because acidity weakens your enamel, exposing dentine.
  • Use toothbrush with soft bristles. Soft bristles will gently remove the plaque without hurting teeth and gums.
  • Fluoride decreases sensitivity. Use those teeth products which have fluoride. You can consult with your dentist for advice.
  • Visit your dentist at regular interval, normally after every six month for cleaning your teeth.
